Winton Shire Council is responsible for wastewater services facilities in the Winton Shire Area.
Winton’s sewerage system is comprised of an Imhoff tank, four effluent holding lagoons, sludge drying beds and an artificial wetland.
- All the sewerage from residential goes to the main pipe.
- This pipe takes all the sewerage from main pipe to the Imhoff tank vial pump station.
- Imhoff tank process all the sewerage and then all the sludge is pumped out nearby the Imhoff tank.
- Treated water emptied into the artificial wetlands and left over for further disinfection via UV radiations.
