60 and Better Program

Overview

The program is funded by the Department of Communities, disability services and seniors.  Auspice by the Winton Shire Council.

Winton 60 & Better Program supports older people in our community by offering a mix of activities. Regular activities include craft, games mornings, Bingo, Lunch, morning tea, movies, age appropriate exercises, internet access.  Everyone is welcome to drop in and join in any activities.  Winton 60 & Better meeting rooms are located Bloomfield and Oondoroo street between the Diamantina Gardens units and the Hospital.  There is something on every day of the week everyone over 50 are welcome.  Becoming a member is not necessary but encouraged.

The programs focus is to enable older people in our community an input into the activities they would like to participate in.  The program has a driving committee who meet monthly to plan activities, events and contributions to the Winton Community. Winton 60 & Better’s monthly newsletter is distributed in the local shops and via email.

Mission Statement

To enable older people at the local community level to participate in decisions and activities which affect their health and wellbeing.  Winton 60 and Better endeavours to promote health activities for older people and encourage positive community attitudes to ageing.
