Social Housing
Winton Shire Council provides limited social housing to support residents who are unable to access or maintain suitable housing through other options.
Housing is available only at two facilities in Winton:
- Diamantina Gardens Aged Units
- Youth Housing Units
Diamantina Gardens – Aged Housing
Diamantina Gardens offers safe and affordable accommodation for senior residents who can live independently but may need support due to financial, health, or personal circumstances.
Eligibility:
- Senior citizen
- Connection to Winton or the RAPAD shires
- Need for supported housing (financial, health, or other reasons)
- Able to live independently
- The unit will be the tenant’s sole and permanent residence
Youth Housing
Youth Housing provides short-term accommodation for young people aged 15–25 years who are experiencing housing instability.
Eligibility:
- Aged 15–25 years
- Connection to Winton or the RAPAD shires
- Need for housing assistance
- Not own or have an interest in another property
- Willing to sign a six-month lease

To apply for housing, contact the Winton Neighbourhood Centre to arrange an interview to discuss your eligibility and housing needs.
You can also download the Social Housing Application Form online and submit it to the Winton Neighbourhood Centre once completed.
