Winton Shire has a population of about 1500 people with around 900 of that in the township.
Winton boasts 3 convenience stores for all your needs, 8 hotels & motels, several cafes, 3 caravan and camping grounds, 2 banking locations, and several stores selling general household goods, hardware and clothing. There are 3 fuelling stations, and several tyre and service centres including an RACQ depot. Also, a post office, newsagency, TAB, airport and the usual emergency services can be found in the township.

The Rural Libraries Queensland online catalogue has a range of resources and services available to the 28 participating councils in the network. Library members can search and request books, renew loans and access online resources. All you require is a current library membership card and PIN number.
